The Libra Foundation Announces Appointment of Jennifer Agmi
San Francisco (CA) – The Libra Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Jennifer Agmi, who will lead The Libra Foundation’s gender justice grantmaking strategy. Gender justice is one of three program areas in which The Libra Foundation focuses its grantmaking, along with environmental justice and criminal justice and drug policy reform.
“We are excited to add Jennifer to our team,” said Crystal Hayling, Executive Director of The Libra Foundation. “Jennifer brings a commitment to working at the intersection of gender and racial justice and her experience in establishing deep relationships with grantee partners will strengthen Libra’s effectiveness.”
As Director of Programs at The New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF), Jennifer oversaw a portfolio of grantees working with historically marginalized communities across three issue areas: economic security; health and reproductive justice; and safety. While at NYWF, she also led the new fund for the ‘me too.’ movement in partnership with founder Tarana Burke and served as chief strategist for the multi-million dollar IGNITE! Initiative, which increased investments in gender-fluid and young women of color-led organizations. A strong advocate for moving philanthropy towards participatory grantmaking, Jennifer designed and managed NYWF’s girl-led participatory grantmaking program.
“I’m thrilled to begin working with The Libra Foundation, and especially honored to work for a foundation that partners with community leaders that strive for gender and racial justice,” said Agmi.
The Libra Foundation is a family foundation with an endowment of $420 million invested for impact. The Foundation is committed to social justice work in the United States in the areas of criminal justice and drug policy reform, environmental justice, and gender justice. Over the past decade, The Libra Foundation has granted $50 million to more than 140 grantee partners.
